The King of Thailand, Maha Vajiralingkorn, presided over a parade in honor of his 72nd birthday in Bangkok.
According to the Associated Press, although the king's birthday was on July 28, the ceremonies take place on December 5 on the occasion of the birthday of his father, King Bhumibol.
Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana led the parade as commander of the Combined Guard Unit. The king's youngest daughter, Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, was placed in charge of the Royal Horse Guards Regiment.
When the sun set, it was the military's turn to swear an oath of loyalty to the king.
