Morgane Rivoal, a 13-year-old teenager reported missing two weeks ago, was found alive "at the beginning of the week", in the commune of Coutances, in Normandy, France. The student had last been seen on the morning of November 25, in Pabu, Côtes-d'Armor, more than 200 kilometers away. According to the French press, a 21-year-old man was arrested.
"The missing child was located at the beginning of the week, in Coutances," said Nicolas Heitz, prosecutor at the Saint-Brieuc court, quoted by the newspaper Le Figaro.
Morgane was located by Gendarmerie soldiers when she was staying "in a hostel for young workers in the city" with a 21-year-old man, who was "immediately placed in police custody on charges of arrest, kidnapping and abduction of a minor under fifteen years ".
Speaking to the French newspaper, Morgane's mother said she was "very relieved to know that she is alive" and that she is "safe and well".
Morgane left home at 7:14 am (6:14 am in Lisbon) on November 25 to go to school, but never arrived at Albert Camus de Grâces school. On the same day, the Gendarmerie Côtes-d'Armor decided to open an investigation due to a "disappearance".
It is known that shortly before disappearing, Morgane argued with her parents over social media, namely the existence of a TikTok account. After the argument, Morgane's father broke her cell phone and took her SIM card, the French Public Prosecutor's Office said.
The teenager, who "had never run away or expressed suicidal thoughts", left a note for her parents: "Dad, Mom, I'm sorry for leaving."
Also her friends said that Morgane posted a story on social media over the weekend indicating that she would not be going to school on Monday.
During the investigation, two men - who maintained contact on social media - were questioned and one of them ended up arrested for child pornography, in a case unrelated to Morgane's.
