At least three soldiers and 19 suspected terrorists have been killed in military operations in Khyber Pashthuwa province, a former stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban near the border with Afghanistan.
The Pakistani army's Intelligence Bureau (ISPR) said the deaths occurred in three operations that took place on Monday and Tuesday.
The ISPR said eight of the suspected terrorists were killed in an operation in the Matani area of Peshawar, eight others in Baizai in Mohmand area and three others in the Karak area.
The army also said it was conducting "clearance efforts to eliminate" any other terrorists in the area.
Security forces have carried out dozens of operations in recent months against the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), known as the Pakistani Taliban and responsible for dozens of attacks on authorities since a ceasefire broke down in November 2022.
The TTP, which differs from the Afghan Taliban in organizational matters but follows the same strict interpretation of Sunni Islam, brings together more than a dozen Islamist militant groups operating in Pakistan, where they have killed around 70,000 people in two decades of violence.
