Luigi Mangione, accused of the murder of Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, traveled through Asia and was at a shooting range in Thailand just a few months before the crime.
The information comes from two German tourists, who met him on this trip, in the new documentary 'Luigi Mangione: The Mind of a Killer', by TMZ.
According to the tourists, identified only as Paul and Max, Mangione began a solo trip to Asia at the beginning of last year. On one of the days, he chose not to go to the beach and went to a shooting range.
This incident would have occurred a few months before Mangione, who lost contact with his family during his trip to Asia and ended up being reported missing, suddenly reappeared in New York, where Brian Thompson was murdered.
The couple, who said they traveled extensively with Mangione across Asia, also claimed that he was obsessed with Indian author Jash Dholani's book 'Hit Reverse: New Ideas From Old Books', which examines other authors' philosophical views.
He reportedly bought hundreds of copies of the book and flew to Bombay to try to give the author his personal feedback.
It is worth remembering that the 26-year-old is accused of shooting executive Brian Thompson to death on December 4th. Mangione pleaded not guilty Monday to murder and terrorism charges in a state trial that will run parallel to his federal trial.
The maximum penalty for state charges is life in prison without parole, but the federal charges he faces could carry the possibility of the death penalty.
Mangione was arrested at a McDonald's in the state of Pennsylvania, after five days of searches, and was carrying a gun that matched the one used in the shooting and a fake identification card.
