A study carried out by researchers from Imperial College London, in the United Kingdom, and the University of Graz, in Austria, points to the beneficial effects of open-world video games - such as 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' - on the mental health.
The study consisted of asking more than 600 postgraduate students about their experiences with open-world video games, as well as the feelings they have after these sessions.
Researchers have found that for most people, these types of games help with cognitive escapism, relaxation levels, and overall well-being.
“By providing immersive environments that allow for mental diversion, emotional relief, and meaning, these games can serve as valuable tools for improving psychological and emotional health,” the research said, according to Science Alert.
