Cholera In Angola Reaches Namibe And Exceeds Nine Thousand Cases



The cholera outbreak in Angola has totaled 349 deaths and 9,081 cases since January, with Namibe province registering the first case, bringing the number of affected regions to 17, health authorities said.


The latest epidemiological bulletin from the Ministry of Health, with data up to Wednesday, indicates that seven deaths and 189 cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours.


Luanda province, the epicenter of the disease, led the way in the number of cases in the last 24 hours, with 55 infected, while Benguela province recorded the highest number of deaths, with five of the total deaths.


Kwanza Norte province, whose data on cases and deaths has been worrying in recent weeks, did not register any deaths on Wednesday out of 54 reported cases.


In the period under review, 111 people were discharged and another 258 are hospitalized.
