Rio Ferdinand argued this Wednesday that ‘his’ Manchester United (the club he represented between 2002 and 2014 as a player) need to invest heavily in the upcoming summer transfer market in order to return to the title race.
To that end, the former England international has even named, on his own YouTube channel, entitled ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents’, the four players he believes the team led by Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim should ‘attack’ in order to make up for the main deficiencies.
"I want a central midfielder to play alongside [Manuel] Ugarte. That player has to be able to pick up the ball and take it to Bruno [Fernandes] and the forwards. You know who I'd go for? Adam Wharton", he began.
"We need [Victor] Osimhen. We need experience. We need someone who knows how to score goals. We need someone who can show young winger how it's done. If I was Manchester United, I'd make it happen," he continued.
"Another one I'd buy is [Matheus] Cunha. He's made it clear that he wants to leave, so I'd buy Cunha (...). You know who I would also buy? [Jeremie Frimpong], as a right-back," concluded the now sports commentator.
