Nuno Espírito Santo Takes Over Champions: "A Fight That Nobody Expected"

Nottingham Forest's ‘dream season’ reached a new chapter this Monday with a 1-2 win over Tottenham, which saw them leapfrog Tottenham into third place in the Premier League with just five games left to play.

After the final whistle in London, Portuguese coach Nuno Espírito Santo was challenged to admit that qualification for the Champions League is even a possibility, and he didn't hold back: “Above all, we have to realize that we're in a fight that nobody expected us to be in”.

"Even we didn't expect it, and that's normal, but I don't want to prove anyone wrong. It's about us. We have a great desire to compete, and the players enjoy it," he said, in statements reproduced by British television station Sky Sports.

"We're fighting against great teams, and that can only make us proud. We embrace the challenge. We've got a big week ahead of us, we're going to Wembley to compete against a great team", he added, referring to the FA Cup clash with Manchester City.
