Uber has officially launched their Female Only Driver option for passengers that aren’t men.
Uber launched its “Women Preferences” pilot in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Detroit on July 23, 2025, allowing women and non-binary riders to request female drivers and female drivers to opt for women riders, as reported by Forbes, Uber Newsroom, and The Pink News. The feature, which addresses safety concerns amid 2,717 sexual assault cases reported in Uber’s 2021-2022 U.S. safety report, has completed over 100 million trips globally since its 2019 debut in Saudi Arabia. However, X posts from @roc_monster and @NSimpson3Cs on August 17, 2025, raise concerns about potential misuse by non-binary or trans individuals, citing risks to female drivers and passengers.
