On August 14, 2023, Jesus Ayala and Jzamir Keys, then 17 and 16, stole cars and targeted bicyclists in a morning spree in northwest Las Vegas. They struck and killed 64-year-old retired police chief Andreas Probst, with phone footage showing them cheering the impact. A Clark County judge sentenced Ayala to 20 years to life and Keys to 18 years to life on Tuesday, approving maximum terms under their guilty pleas to second-degree murder. Probst's family mourned a devoted husband and father, while noting the men's courtroom smirks showed no regret.
