Former Miss North Florida Stripped of Title Over Transgender Contract Clause

In September 2024, Bush won the Miss North Florida preliminary, but organizers stripped her title two months later when she declined to sign the Miss America contract due to its language on transgender women. Backed by Liberty Counsel, she argued it forced her to deny biological reality, clashing with her Christian views that sex is immutable. Miss America countered that she retained her crown but chose not to advance by refusing the standard contract all others signed, aimed at fairness and nondiscrimination. Bush has since received support from figures like Rep. Anna Paulina Luna and Riley Gaines, who praised her as a truth-teller.
