An 18-year-old secondary school student was arrested on Monday after stabbing his teacher at a school in Chemillé-en-Anjou, in the French department of Maine-et-Loire.
According to the Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency, “the victim suffered a non-life-threatening facial injury” and the young man was arrested “very quickly”.
The incident happened this morning at 9:45 local time (8:45 in Lisbon) at a secondary school. After the attack, the young man fled through a window and left the murder weapon behind. However, he was arrested by the “National Gendarmerie, with support from the municipal police”.
The case is being treated as an attempted murder and the young man was completely unknown to the police, the Gendarmerie and the justice services.”
