The summer transfer market opens in less than two months, and Arsenal are already on the lookout for a goalscorer, an element that, in the opinion of manager Mikel Arteta, is still part of the squad he has in charge.
Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist specializing in off-season issues, insisted on Tuesday, in his opinion piece for the British website CaughtOffside, that Viktor Gyokeres, from Sporting, remains one of the players whose characteristics most appeal to the Gunners.
“Arsenal have been watching several Sporting players this year, so Gyokeres is a player they like, along with Alexander Isak from Newcastle. They also like Benjamin Sesko from Leipzig, so it's still early days,” he said.
“Arsenal are exploring the striker market, but let's see what they decide in terms of budget. For his part, Gyokeres wants to keep all his options open, so he could be a player to consider in the market,” he continued.
“We'll see what Arsenal decide to do, but personally I'd go for a real number 9, someone who can score goals. I'm a big fan of Gyokeres and Sesko, but it's not easy to pay a lot for top strikers,” he added.
