Lutero Simango Is MDM's Presidential Candidate For Mozambique's October Elections

Lutero Simango was chosen unanimously and by acclamation, after Albano Carige, the current mayor of Beira, dropped out of the internal election race.

Albano Carige justified his withdrawal from the race by the fact that he was committed to the city of Beira, where he is President of the Municipal Council.

With the election of Lutero Simango, the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM) becomes the first political party to nominate its presidential candidate for the October 9 elections.
