Amnesia After Orgasm? Yes, It's Possible And Because Of Something Specific

Have you ever lost your memory after an orgasm? You may have answered yes, even if you did not associate one event with the other. But the truth is that it is something that can happen, although it is not very common. And Polly Fisher, 58, who lost her memory for seven hours, is proof that it is even possible to have amnesia after a more intense moment of sex.

The story is told by the Daily Star. Which means that Mich Thacker, 61, ran to the doctor to say that he thought his wife had suffered a stroke. But the diagnosis was different. In reality, the woman had suffered transient global amnesia, caused by the impact of the orgasm. “I still don’t remember what happened to me. I lost about seven hours of my life. I thought it would come back slowly, but a month has passed and nothing has changed,” the woman tells the publication.

“It’s more common with wild sex”

In conversation with Pouca Vergonha, sexologist Giselene Teixeira highlights that losing memory after an orgasm is very uncommon. Studies are even highlighted that point to it being something that happens to five or six people out of a universe of 100,000. These data are annual. “Transient amnesia is temporary and occurs because of changes in blood flow to the brain. It has no side effects and can last up to 24 hours, but usually only lasts a few minutes. They say the expression ‘was it good for you?’ came about because of this, to make sure the person remembers what happened. It’s more common with wild sex, something very intense,” she explains.
