ANC And Opposition Form Government Of National Unity

The African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) in neighboring South Arica reached an agreement to form a Government of National Unity (GNU) together with the Patriotic Alliance (PA) and the Inkatha Freedom Party ( IFP), reports SABC News.

This comes days after the parties were unable to reach an agreement on who to work with in the GNU proposed by the ANC, after the May elections failed to produce an outright winner.

It is worth remembering that this Thursday, the president of the IFP, Velenkosini Hlabisa, said that the party will commit to forming a GNU at national level, with the ANC and the DA.

Hlabisa said the party made the decision to be part of the GNU for the good of South Africa and the country's citizens.
