Controversy is brewing in the Turkish national team. A day after the defeat against Portugal (0-3) at Euro'2024, the Turkish players returned to training on Sunday afternoon, already preparing for the decisive match against Czechia, and the images captured by the media 'caught' the moment when coach Vincenzo Montella removed Arda Guler from training with the rest of his colleagues.
The images quickly went viral, prompting a reaction from the Turkish federation, which denied that it was a disciplinary matter, stressing that it was on medical advice.
"During the training session of our national team, a video created from comments on the images reflected on the television cameras was posted on social media. Before training, it was agreed that the player Arda Güler should do individual training to prepare himself in the best way for the Czech Republic game, due to the pain in his groin," reads the official note from the Federation.
It should be noted that Arda Guler had already been left out of Turkey's starting XI against Portugal, having only entered the field in the second half.
