Cristiano Ronaldo Reaches New Record

Cristiano Ronaldo will start Portugal's match against Czechia on Tuesday night, which marks the team's debut at Euro'2024, and has achieved another historic milestone in his already long career as a professional footballer.

The Selecao captain became the player with the most appearances in the final stages of the European Championship. Counting this year's, the Madeiran has made six appearances at European Championships. In addition to the 2024 tournament, the Portuguese player has played in 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020 (which took place in 2021).

Cristiano Ronaldo thus overtakes Luka Modric at the top of this statistic. The Croatian midfielder had equaled the Madeiran with his fifth appearance in these European finals, a figure that has now fallen.

Also making history is Pepe. A starter in the match, the Portuguese international equaled Modric's tally of appearances at the European Championships. The center-back also became the oldest player to take part in the final stages of this competition.
