The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) reacted to the latest controversy involving the 'star of the company', Mohamed Salah, in a statement issued via official platforms early on Tuesday afternoon.
"There is absolutely no truth to the rumors that Mohamed Salah refused to leave the pitch. Salah wasn't going to be replaced in the first place. Hossan Hassan was happy to just bring in Nasser Maher,” reads the short new report, which comes on the heels of the one-all draw with Guinea-Bissau.
The Liverpool striker came on as a starter in a match played at the 24 de Setembro National Stadium in Bissau, and even scored the goal that sealed the final result in the 70th minute, after an accurate shot from Mama Baldé, a former Sporting player, had caused a surprise.
In stoppage time, Mostafa Fathi and Nasser Maher prepared to take to the field for the 2026 World Cup qualifier, but only the latter did so, sparking rumors.
