Kevin Campbell, the 54-year-old former England striker, died this Saturday, Arsenal confirmed. The former spearhead, who also played for Everton and Nottingham Forest, had been admitted to hospital as an emergency earlier this month.
"We are devastated to learn that our former spearhead Kevin Campbell has died following an illness," the Arsenal statement continued.
Kevin was loved by everyone at the club. All our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace, Kevin," the Gunners concluded.
Campbell played for Arsenal on 227 occasions, scoring 59 goals. He played 164 times for Everton and was even a colleague of Abel Xavier.
