Rema's 'Calm Down' Makes History. It's the Most Listened To African Theme in the US

Rema's song 'Calm Down' keeps breaking records and is now in the news for becoming the most listened to Afrobeat song in the USA.

The information was released on X by the music monitoring platform Chart Data, which reports that the Nigerian singer's song has become "the first Afrobeat song in history to earn more than one billion streams in the United States".

The good news comes after the same platform revealed last year that this "was the most successful African song ever".

The song was released in February 2002 and is part of the 24-year-old singer's first album 'Rave and Roses'.

Months after its release, Rena, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, reissued the song, this time with the American Selena Gomez. The remix, which has almost 894 million views on YouTube, is currently the most viewed music video by a Nigerian artist.
