Benfica announced, in a statement issued via their official platforms early on Tuesday afternoon, that they have reached an agreement with Chrystyan Martim Miguel Djaló, a 16-year-old player who was playing for Cova da Piedade.
Yannick Djaló's son signed a contract valid until June 2028, and, speaking to BTV, said that this was "a source of pride": "It was something I always wanted, to be able to reach this level and be able to represent Benfica, which is, in my opinion, the best club in Portugal".
"My goals are, in the future, to make it into the first team, to work hard in training, and to be able to develop with the people who are here. I know the club has some of the best professionals to help me with that," he began.
"I'm a player with a lot of personality on the pitch. You'll often hear me talking on the pitch. I'm a player who likes to talk, I'm a player who sometimes holds on to the ball a bit, I'm good at dribbling, quick, fast," he continued.
"My father has always been someone who has advised me and helped me, who still gives me advice today, who always helps me after games. He, my mother and the rest of my family will always be there for me," added the young winger.
