Bolsonaro Paid for Trip to the USA With Jewelry That Were Public Heritage

Jair Bolsonaro will have paid for a stay in the USA with money from jewelry and gifts he received while he was head of state.

According to ABC, the trip that the former president of Brazil made to the USA, days before the end of his term in December 2022, and the following three months in which he lived in the country, will have been paid for using money obtained from jewelry and gifts he received while he was head of state. The assets in question, it should be noted, constitute public property.

The investigation revealed on Monday is the most serious accusation against the far-right leader and could further complicate his political future, although Bolsonaro is already ineligible for other crimes against democracy.

It is recalled that the former president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, was indicted by the Federal Police, this Thursday, for several crimes following a process of appropriation of millionaire jewelry.

The investigation was opened last year and was communicated yesterday to the Federal Supreme Court (STF), which will now request an opinion from the Attorney General's Office (PGR).

The case became public after local media released information about sets of jewelry, luxury watches and firearms that Bolsonaro received when he was head of state and kept for himself as a private collection when he left the government.

Bolsonaro was indicted for embezzlement, criminal association and money laundering.
