Couple Mugged in Peru and Forced to Walk 25 Km in the Desert

A couple from Cascavel, in western Paraná, were robbed during a trip to Peru. Andressa Alexandre and Paulo da Cruz recounted their moment of despair.

In an interview with RICtv Oeste, Andressa revealed that the couple had been planning the trip for a long time and were even celebrating Paulo's birthday in the country. She says that the robbery spoiled the trip.

"We went on the Los Perdidos Canyon tour, which is in two stages. The first you get to know from the top and then we did the trail. On the second stage, two tourists didn't want to do it and stayed with the drivers in the van. On the way back, the robbery took place. We didn't see the approach, but the people who were there were taken".

Andressa also said that one of the victims reacted to the robbery and was even run over by one of the suspects. The robbers then fled with the van where the group was in the desert and left them without transportation.

After that, they walked for about 25 km, until a Chilean woman got a cell phone signal and called for help.

"I was desperate at the time. Every moment I thought the robbers might come back at any moment. We picked up stones from the ground to defend ourselves," said Paulo.

The robbery took place in May, but the case went viral last Monday (8) after the couple posted the video on social media.
