Irish Woman Was Attacked and Attempted to Suicide in Dubai. Now Risk Prison

The country's court accuses her of alcoholism and attempted suicide.

An Irish flight attendant who recently moved to Dubai faces a prison sentence after allegedly trying to take her own life. According to British media reports, Tori Towey, 28, is banned from leaving the country.

The young woman is accused of having been drinking alcohol and attempting to commit suicide.

Tori was the victim of a violent attack by her husband, which led her to consider taking her own life.

Her action has now put her in the "worst nightmare of her life".

The situation is shared by the woman's family, who have appealed for help from entities in their country, so that they can bring Tori back home.

A spokesperson for the Dubai Detention Group said that Tori was chased with a knife by her husband, a South African national, who punched her and tried to break her arm. After the attack, the woman reportedly consumed a large amount of alcohol and attempted to take her own life.

As she survived, she was taken to a police station where she was accused of alcoholism and attempted suicide. Her passport will have been confiscated so she will not be able to leave the country.

The case has already reached the Irish parliament, where, this Tuesday, the woman's situation was analyzed, with Sinn Féin leader, Mary Lou McDonald, saying that Towey's passport had been destroyed and that the woman cannot return to Ireland .

Tory is due to go on trial next week, with Irish authorities doing everything they can to get the woman back home before that happens.

It should be noted that alcohol abuse and attempted suicide are acts considered illegal in the United Arab Emirates, although there has been some progress in this regard in recent years.
