Germany Condemns Israeli Attack That Killed 29 People in South Gaza

"It is unacceptable that people are killed while seeking refuge in schools. The repeated attacks by the Israeli Army on schools must stop and a rapid investigation must be carried out", said the Berlin diplomacy in a note posted on social media.

Today, the Israeli Army confirmed an attack in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, on Tuesday, in which 29 people died and more than 50 were injured when a missile was fired at militants from the Islamist group Hamas.

The civilian victims were housed in the building of an educational establishment located close to the attack.

"Using precision munitions, the Israeli Air Force targeted a Hamas terrorist who participated, among other terrorist activities, in the brutal massacre of October 7 (2023) carried out by the terrorist organization in southern Israel," stated the Army, in a statement.

The Israel Defense Forces further states that "they are investigating reports that civilians were injured near the Alawda school, in the south of Khan Yunis, close to the site of the attack."

At least 29 people died in this attack, according to Hamas, which controls the Palestinian enclave.

Israel's large-scale operation against Gaza has left more than 38,000 dead since October 7 last year, when Hamas attacked Israeli territory in an operation that left 1,200 dead.
