On Tuesday, the Judicial Police (PJ) arrested a lawyer for allegedly committing a crime of drug trafficking, in its aggravated form, at the Porto Prison (EPP).
According to a statement issued by the authorities, it all happened after the 36-year-old woman visited the prison.
The lawyer had gone there "with the alleged purpose of providing legal support to some of the inmates".
However, after the contact between the detainee and the prisoners, and before they returned to their cells, they "were subjected to search procedures, and the Prison Guard Corps detected that two of them were carrying substances suspected of being narcotics".
The PJ was called to the scene and after confirming the illicit nature of the substances, which were cocaine and hashish, and the respective investigations, concluded that the lawyer was involved in the situation.
The detainee will be brought before a court for first questioning and coercive measures will be applied.
