The Financial Times reported that Dyson has decided to lay off around a thousand employees in its offices in the United Kingdom, a number that will affect a quarter of its workforce.
Dyson CEO Hanno Kirner noted in a statement that despite the company's rapid expansion, “global markets are increasingly fierce and competitive.” In this way, the executive president believes that the reduction in workers will make Dyson more “agile and entrepreneurial”.
It is worth remembering that the last time Dyson laid off workers was in 2020, and (at the time) the decision was justified by the Covid-19 pandemic.
