Henrique Chagas, 27, died after undergoing the aesthetic procedure at a clinic in São Paulo.
More than a month after the death of 27-year-old Henrique Chagas, during an aesthetic procedure known as phenol peeling, the autopsy results concluded that the victim had suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest.
According to CNN Brasil, the sudden loss of heart function occurred due to acute pulmonary edema caused by inhaling phenol applied to the face, according to the document from the Technical-Scientific Police.
The aesthetic procedure took place at the Natália Becker clinic, in São Paulo. The woman was indicated for possible intent.
Experts detected phenol on the victim's skin with “skin changes compatible with a burn” and moderate alveolar hemorrhages.
