Meta and Vodafone Unite to Improve Video Quality in Europe



Meta and Vodafone announced a collaboration between the two companies that aims to improve the quality of short videos played over mobile data Internet in eleven European markets - including Portugal.


The considerable increase in traffic and video consumption in recent years has helped to impact the quality of the Internet, with the technology giant and the telecommunications operator joining efforts to solve the problem and improve the quality of the Internet for Internet users.


“Meta’s willingness to optimize videos for its applications paves the way for more efficient use of existing network resources,” said Vodafone’s chief network officer, Alberto Ripepi, to Reuters.


“We are committed to continuing our collaboration with innovative partners like Vodafone, device manufacturers, equipment providers and the broader digital ecosystem to push the boundaries of video optimization,” said Meta vice president of engineering Gaya Nagarajan .
