The FBI assured that it managed to access the young man's phone and that the analysis of the device was carried out in a laboratory in the US state of Virginia. According to The Guardian, the FBI is trying to determine whether Crooks was a violent extremist who acted with political motivation.
The US security services also stated that they have already completed the search of the boy's house and car. Around 100 statements were also collected from people who were at the event and other witnesses.
"The firearm used in the shooting was purchased legally. The shooter was not known to the FBI before this incident", they also said. For now, it is believed that the boy acted alone, but the FBI continues to investigate the possible existence of others involved.
Remember that Thomas Matthew Crooks tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump on Saturday during a Republican rally. The shooter was on a roof outside the perimeter of the rally and used an AR-15 type weapon, firing eight shots before being shot down by Secret Service agents.
