Businessman Elon Musk plans to donate around $45 million a month to Donald Trump's presidential campaign in November, reports the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
According to the WSJ, which cited unnamed sources, Musk said he plans to donate the money to America PAC, a political action organization that can obtain donations from individuals, corporations and unions and spend unlimited amounts on election campaigns.
Considered the richest person in the world, Musk, owner of Tesla, SpaceX and the social network X (formerly Twitter), said months ago that he wasn't planning to donate to any candidate, but on Saturday he called for people to vote for Trump after he survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.
According to documents submitted to the authorities, America PAC received around eight million euros in donations in the last quarter.
The amount pledged by Musk would have a substantial impact on the work of the organization, which seeks to counter the Biden campaign's efforts to win votes in the so-called "swing states" that could decide the November presidential election by encouraging voters to register and vote early, the WSJ added.
