A crocodile killed a 54-year-old woman on Tuesday while she was bathing in a river in the village of Wali, on the Maluku Islands in eastern Indonesia.
Halima Rahakbauw was clam picking that morning when she was attacked by the reptile, reports Agency France-Presse (AFP).
The woman didn't return home, so neighbors and family began searching for her.
The locals and the police eventually recovered parts of the victim's body after catching and slaughtering the crocodile.
‘The villagers had to cut open the crocodile's belly to remove some parts of the victim's body. The crocodile was quite large, about four meters long,’ a police officer, who requested anonymity, told AFP.
On Sunday 18 August, a 63-year-old miner was killed by a crocodile near a river on the island of Bangka in Sumatra.
