Afghanistan. Six Dead, 13 Wounded in Kabul Suicide Bombing

Six people were killed and 13 injured in a suicide bombing today in south-west Kabul, the Afghan capital's police spokesman announced late this evening.

‘This afternoon, a man loaded with explosives blew himself up in the Qala-e-Bakhtiar neighbourhood. Unfortunately, six people, including a woman, were killed and 13 injured,’ announced Khalid Zadran on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The injured, whose condition was not specified, were quickly taken to hospital, said the police spokesman, adding that an enquiry had been launched.

Although security was generally restored in Afghanistan with the return of the Taliban three years ago, the country continues to be regularly rocked by attacks by the ‘jihadist’ group Islamic State (IS).

The latest suicide bombing claimed by IS in Afghanistan took place on 21 March in Kandahar, in the south of the country, a historic Taliban stronghold, and officially killed three people.
