A British man accidentally stabbed himself while trying to separate two frozen burgers with a kitchen knife.
The unusual incident took place in Wales last July.
The victim, Barry Griffiths, 57, stabbed himself in the stomach, reports The Telegraph. The man, who lived alone, was dead at home for several days until the authorities went to the scene to check if everything was okay.
The officers found the man already dead, in a scene with a lot of blood, believing that he had been the victim of an attack.
However, a thorough investigation of the scene would conclude that no one had entered the house.
In court, the judge said that it was concluded that the fact that the freezer door was open, and the fact that raw burgers and a knife were found on the kitchen counter led to the conclusion that he had stabbed himself. Also at issue is the fact that the wound to the stomach occurred in the area of the man's body that was at the height of the kitchen counter.
According to the New York Post, the conclusion of the investigation left the authorities themselves open-mouthed.
