Actor James William Ercolani, better known as James Darren, died on Monday (2/9) at the age of 88. According to TMZ, the artist was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre for an aortic valve replacement and died in his sleep.
Darren became known for playing Moondoggie in the film ‘Gidget’ (1959). He also acted in major films such as ‘Time Tunnel’ (1966), ‘T.J. Hooker’ (1982) and ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’ (1993). At a young age, he studied acting in New York with renowned actress and teacher Stella Adler.
The famous actor was married to Gloria Terlitsky from 1955 until 1958, and later to Evy Norlund, former Miss Denmark, from 1960 until her death. James Darren leaves behind a wife, three children and several grandchildren.
