Handler Attacked by Tiger at Australian Amusement Park

The incident, which took place shortly before the amusement park opened to the public, is under investigation.

A tiger bit the arm of an animal handler on Monday at the Dreamworld amusement park in Coomera, Queensland, Australia.

According to the authorities, the victim was urgently transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with injuries to her arm but in a stable condition, said the director of the Queensland Ambulance Service, Justin Payne, quoted by the Associated Press (AP).

The incident occurred shortly before the amusement park opened to the public.

‘We were informed that at that location, a 47-year-old woman, an experienced keeper, had been bitten by one of the tigers. The patient had obviously suffered some serious lacerations and wounds caused by the animal. She was quite pale and feeling unwell, but in general she was fine,’ said Payne.

In a statement, the amusement park described the attack as an ‘isolated and rare incident’ and assured that the incident will be investigated.
