The 30-year-old Spaniard is currently in Surat Thani prison, while he waits for his lawyers to file an appeal to try to reduce his sentence.

An episode of the documentary series 'The Sancho Case', on HBO Max, revealed an unprecedented story about the macabre case, reports the newspaper As.

The son of Rodolfo Sancho and Sílvia Bronchalo revealed that he was the target of "threats" until shortly before the events. His words had not yet seen the light of day, but were made public by Ramón Abarca, the director of the EFE news agency for Asia-Pacific.

As soon as the news of Arrieta's death was known, the journalist traveled to Thailand and had the 'privilege' of speaking to Sancho shortly before he was arrested.

"When he is explaining his relationship with Edwin, he talks about threats. Threats to him and his family. That's when Daniel gets most affected, when he tells how he felt about the threats, but he didn't explain them very well either. He said he felt threatened, that he had to leave his girlfriend out of fear and that he feared for himself and his family," Abarca revealed during the documentary.

The communicator asked for evidence to corroborate this story, but Daniel said he didn't have any. "He told me he didn't have any because Edwin was too smart to leave evidence. At that time, at the beginning of the case, when we didn't have any information, it was a very serious accusation to make about someone who was dead, and so we decided not to publish anything," Abarca finally explained.

It should be remembered that Daniel Sancho was sentenced to life imprisonment at the end of August for the premeditated murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta in 2023 in Thailand.

Daniel Sancho was found guilty of the crimes of "premeditated murder", "dismemberment" and "passport theft".

Recall the case

The son of Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho was arrested in August last year and accused of murdering, dismembering and hiding the body of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta.

Sancho met the victim on August 2 and they rode a motorbike together. When they returned to the hotel, they had an argument after the Colombian asked him to have sex. Sancho allegedly punched his friend in the face, knocking him unconscious.

The man, in a panic, then took him to the bathroom, trying to bring him back to consciousness. After waiting an hour and without a response from Edwin Arrieta, Sancho decided to start dismembering the doctor, a process that he admitted took "three hours".

That same day, he placed the man's remains in black plastic bags and rented a kayak that helped him throw most of them into the sea. The rest of the body was taken to the island's landfill, where a worker would make the discovery hours later.
