C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is not expected to approach our planet again for hundreds of thousands of years.
After months of anticipation by astronomers and night sky observation enthusiasts, it was finally possible to witness the passage of comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS.
This comet, originating from the Oort Cloud, was observed all over the world this Sunday, the 13th, and beautiful images of its passage were also captured in Portugal. Despite the short ‘window’ of opportunity, the resulting images are worthy of admiration and you can see above photographs taken in Spain, Italy, North Macedonia, the USA, China, among others.
This was actually our only opportunity to see C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, since, at best, the comet will only approach Earth again for hundreds of thousands of years.
