A man, just released from prison, threatened to kill his ex-wife and their young son and barricaded himself in a flat with the child for several hours in Seine-Saint-Denis, France.
According to Le Figaro, which cites police sources, the incident took place on Saturday night in a three-storey building where the man barricaded himself in with his six-year-old son.
It was the suspect's ex-partner who alerted the authorities after the man, who was spending the night with his son, called her repeatedly, threatening to ‘burn her, kill her and her family, as well as her son’.
The police eventually set up a security perimeter around the building, where the man was believed to be armed.
After six hours of negotiations, the man, who had been released two days previously, opened the door and was arrested.
The child was returned to his mother unharmed.
The police found an air pistol and a knife in the flat.
