Laica, a 10-year-old dog, has found happiness again after a long period of suffering.
The animal, who had been abandoned on the streets in south-west Paraná, Brazil, was rescued and found a new home after losing all her puppies, but also became a haven for three kittens who had been found in the same place, as she ended up adopting them.
According to g1, Laica had already overcome being hit by a car and lost all her children after complications in labor. She was eventually rescued by veterinarian Roniel Santi.
The story of abandonment extended to three cats, found in an empty lot and rescued in the same place as Laica. The connection between them was immediate.
‘My brother was feeding them milk and Laica came over and wanted to sniff them. He put the cats on the floor and she immediately took them to the kennel,’ said the vet.
What they didn't expect was for Laica to start breastfeeding her adopted children. ‘It's very nice what happens. So it's something that can serve as an example even for people, right?’ he added.
