Erling Haaland took to social media late on Sunday night to express his 'mea culpa' following the heavy defeat suffered by the Norwegian team in their 5-1 visit to Austria.
“I'm sorry, guys, it was too bad of me... In November, we're going for six points,” the Manchester City striker wrote succinctly in a short post on his official Instagram account after the match at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz.
The goalscorer was given a starting place by Stale Solbakken and played the full 90 minutes, but came up blank, unlike his teammate Alexander Sorloth. On the other side, the goals came from Marko Arnautovic ('bis'), Philipp Lienhart, Stefan Posch and Michael Gregoritsch.
With this result, Norway remained top of Group 3 in League B of the Nations League, with seven points. However, they were joined by Austria and Slovenia, while Kazakhstan remain in last place with one.
