“FC Porto Is The Ideal Place For Tiago Djaló. It's Impressive”

Jocelyn Gourvennec gave an extensive interview to Tuesday's edition of the newspaper O Jogo, in which he was full of praise for Tiago Djaló, a player he knows from his time at Lille, and who joined FC Porto on loan from Juventus last summer.

“I only have good memories. I know things didn't work out the way he wanted at Juventus, but FC Porto is the ideal place for him to find the confidence and continuity he's been missing. When he signed, I even sent him a message. It's impressive what he does in one-on-one defending,” he said.

“He anticipates very well and reads deep. He's fast, very fast, which makes it very difficult to get past him (...) I discovered a quiet and discreet man, but also a player who always wants to win, in all circumstances,” he continued.

“He wants to be respected. That's why I've always been very open with Tiago, even when he wasn't playing. We've always been honest and that's why we still have a good relationship,” added the French coach.
