The Israeli army claimed today to have destroyed Hezbollah's command center in southern Lebanon, in its most extensive operation since the ground invasion began in the early hours of October 1.
According to the statement, troops from the 98th Division stormed the Shiite militia's headquarters and an observation post from where Hezbollah members were monitoring Israeli towns near the border.
According to the army, the soldiers found explosive devices, weapons and intelligence material in the command center.
Today alone, Israel detected around 180 projectiles fired from Lebanon, which caused the death of a 50-year-old man in the Israeli city of Acre, as well as around a dozen injuries in the Haifa district and the Western Galilee.
Throughout the day, the Lebanese group claimed responsibility for some of the projectiles fired into Israeli territory, justifying it in a statement “in support” of the “steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their courageous and honorable resistance and in defense of Lebanon and its people.”
According to the Ministry of Public Health, since the beginning of the conflict just over a year ago, Israeli attacks in Lebanon have killed more than 2,400 people and injured more than 11,000, the vast majority in the last three weeks.
