Israel Says It Has Destroyed Hezbollah's Elite Force Tunnel Network

The Israeli army today claimed to have destroyed the tunnel network of the Radwan force, an elite unit of the Shiite militia Hezbollah, in Lebanon.

"The troops destroyed all tunnel routes containing more than 100 tons of explosive material. The destroyed routes included an underground command center of Hezbollah's Radwan force, which included a weapons storage area," the military statement read.

According to the army, "the troops carried out raids against terrorist targets, locating and destroying more than 50 tunnel shafts and underground infrastructure in mosques, schools and other civilian buildings."

In addition, they located a weapons depot containing "hundreds of enemy assets, destroyed terrorist infrastructure and eliminated many terrorists," the statement said.

In addition, the army said it attacked "several Hezbollah weapons storage facilities and an intelligence headquarters command center" in Dahye, south of Beirut.

At least 36 people have been killed and 204 injured in the past two days due to Israeli attacks in Lebanon, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported today, which this time counted the last 48 hours and not the last 24 hours, as usual.

This brings the death toll to 2,448 since the start of the conflict a year ago, while at least 11,417 have been injured, according to the ministry's tally.
