Microsoft and Google May Be About to Enter a New 'War'

Microsoft went public to accuse Google of conducting a “campaign” in order to damage the company's image before European institutions. The accusations were made in a blog post by Rima Alaily, Microsoft's deputy general counsel.

The technology giant says that Google would have created a new 'lobbying' organization to harm Microsoft's 'cloud' business, information it became aware of when a European 'cloud' operator (kept anonymous) refused to work with Microsoft.

“One of the companies approached, which ended up refusing, told us that the organization will be run and largely financed by Google with the purpose of attacking Microsoft’s ‘cloud’ computing business in the European Union and the United Kingdom,” says the executive at Microsoft. Microsoft.

The Redmond technology company claims that this Google campaign “is designed to discredit Microsoft with antitrust authorities, lawmakers and mislead the public.”

“Google has gone to great lengths to obfuscate its involvement, funding and control, notably by recruiting a handful of European ‘cloud’ providers, to serve as the public face of the new organization,” Microsoft’s statement read. “When the group launches, we understand that Google will likely present itself as a secondary member rather than its leader.”
