Telegram Starts Deleting Pirate Links Faster

Telegram has decided to start more actively moderating content on the encrypted messaging service following the arrest of CEO Pavel Durov, with the leader of an anti-piracy group confirming that there have indeed been changes to the way the platform works.

Hervé Lemaire, the CEO of LeakID, confirmed in an interview with Le Figaro that Telegram has started deleting links to illegally watch Ligue 1 soccer matches more quickly.

“We've heard from agreed sources that at least three major streamers are stopping. Telegram is deleting illicit streams more quickly, in 10, 15 or 20 minutes, something that didn't happen before,” noted Lemaire. “Previously, Telegram usually took 24 to 48 hours to close these pirate links.”
