Turkey Declares End of Diplomacy and Calls for Sanctions Against Israel

Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan argued today that the time for diplomacy in the Middle East crisis has passed, calling for sanctions against Israel.

“We have passed the limit of words, diplomacy and politics (...) We must move on to sanctions. The international community must take legal action. We must boycott Israel (which) should no longer receive any support in any area,” said Fidan.

“Otherwise, Israel will continue its genocide and massacres in Gaza, because it is not currently paying the economic, political or military price,” explained the head of Turkish diplomacy, who expressed concern at seeing international attention ‘turn away from Gaza’ as Israeli attacks in Lebanon intensify.

“And those who support Israel must also pay the price, to understand that there are limits to what they do,” concluded Fidan.

Turkey cut most of its economic ties with Israel in the spring, but part of the opposition Turkish regime accuses the Ankara government of continuing to supply oil to the Jewish state in the name of previous agreements.

Today, Fidan received his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, who lamented “the impotence of the international community” in the face of the escalating conflict in Lebanon.
