The Brazilian Federal Police concluded that former President Jair Bolsonaro "planned, acted and had direct control" in the attempted coup d'état and knew about the plan to kill Lula da Silva, it was announced today.
"The evidence obtained throughout the investigation demonstrates unequivocally that the then President of the Republic, Jair Messias Bolsonaro, planned, acted and had direct and effective control over the executive acts carried out by the criminal organization that aimed to carry out a coup d'état and the abolition of the democratic rule of law", reads the report made public by the Supreme Federal Court.
According to the Federal Police, the coup d'état did not take place "due to circumstances beyond his control".
