Brasilia Attacker Wanted to Kill Supreme Court Justice, Says Ex-Wife

The ex-wife of the perpetrator of the attack with explosives on the Supreme Federal Court (STF) in Brasília assured the authorities that the objective was "to kill Minister Alexandre de Moraes and whoever else was there at the time of the attack".

Daiane, the ex-partner of Francisco Wanderley Luiz, identified as the perpetrator of the attack, was found by the Federal Police in the interior of Santa Catarina, where she is expected to formalize her statement.

The woman also revealed to the agents that Francisco Wanderley had even done and shared searches on Google to plan the attack he carried out yesterday.

Artisanal explosive devices with a significant degree of harm were found in the home of the perpetrator of the attack, since they contained fragmentation 'weapons' that simulated a grenade.

The director of the Brazilian Federal Police added that Francisco Wanderley Luiz, the perpetrator of the attack on the STF, was carrying with him a fire extinguisher loaded with fuel, which could be used as a flamethrower.

Wanderley Luiz followed several far-right pages on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), such as Movimento Avança Brasil, Espaço Enéas Carneiro, Brasil Paralelo, Jornal da Cidade Online, Jair Messias Bolsonaro and Olavo de Carvalho.

The Federal Police opened an investigation into the attack carried out on Wednesday night and the line of investigation, so far, is based on two criminal hypotheses: an act that undermines the Democratic Rule of Law and also a terrorist act.

The two explosions took place on Wednesday night near the STF, in Brasília, killing Francisco Wanderley Luiz, 59, a member of the Liberal Party, led by former President Jair Bolsonaro.
